eight geographic regions and included 1,518,028 participants (median age, 54.4 years). The Global Cardiovascular Risk Consortium
aimed to assess the effects of the five risk factors on the 10-year incidence of CVD and death from any cause. Dyslipidaemia
Population-attributable fractions according to different regions
for five modifiable risk factors combined
While the prevalence of the five risk factors and the incidence of CVD and death from any cause varied across geographic regions
worldwide, women consistently displayed lower event rates compared to men, with global 10-year event rates in women of 4.0%
compared to 7.8% in men.
The Global Cardiovascular Risk Consortium found that 57.2% of incident CVD in women and 52.6% in men, and 22.2% of deaths in
women and 19.1% in men may be attributable to the five modifiable risk factors discussed earlier.
